Jumpstart Camp 2020
Due to complications of COVID-19, Jumpstart Camp will be offered through Zoom this summer.
While the 2020 edition of Jumpstart Camp might look a little different, we are still committed to providing an engaging and interactive experience for students. We believe kids learn best while having fun, especially in the summer, so we aim to bring fun into every aspect of our camp.
The curriculum this year will still focus on the executive function skills of past Jumpstart camps, but will also include specific tips and strategies for navigating the world of distance learning. We will help students create healthy habits, set up successful study spaces, and find ways to stay focused and engaged during Zoom classes. Whether school is virtual or in-person this year, your child will be prepared!
The structure of the camp will also be a bit different this year. Campers can enroll in one 5-day session, which will consist of both live meetings and independent learning time. Each day of camp will include a 90-minute live Zoom meeting led by Jumpstart teachers, followed by 60 minutes of independent work offered through Google Classroom. Students will receive feedback and support on their independent work daily through the Google Classroom platform.
In addition to your Jumpstart session, we ask that all participants complete a one-time technology orientation session. We will use this time to make sure students can use the Zoom link, set up a personal email, access the Google Classroom, and get to know us a little more. We will hold a few of these sessions leading up to our first Jumpstart class, so look out for those dates and times.
